I was born in Siena and I lived for years in Milan for business. At some point I fell in love with a beautiful Florentine and now I’m the happy mother of two wonderful children: we live in a beautiful apartment in an historic building very close to the Duomo of Florence. My recipes come from my family’s culinary tradition, but there are no limits to imagination and curiosity. After all, so much of our traditional cooking comes from the contamination between different cultures, sometimes even from great mistakes.
The Tuscan cuisine has its roots in the farming culture, but it also offers sumptuous and elaborated dishes prepared for special occasions. I remember very well my grandmother’s house on Christmas morning: the tables were covered with fresh pasta drying, the smell of the Bolognese sauce melted with the roast, the table was decorated, the trolley with appetizers and desserts remained covered until it was time to serve it. It is exactly from these memories that I have started. If it is possible, we will eat on the terrace.
In Florence I had a day in the kitchen with Fiora. It was very enjoyable and rewarding. Fiora is talented cook and we worked on home style Tuscan menu. I have enriched my repertoire. Fiora is a very nice, communicative person and it is great to be at her lesson. Try it you will move on in cooking with her.
We booked a cooking lesson from Fiora last minute, and this ended up being the highlight of our trip!! Fiora and her husband are so welcoming and kind. We made three courses from scratch including spaghetti with clams, cod with tomato sauce, and orange zest ice cream!! We also had fresh bread baking in the oven which was the perfect complement to our meal! They were also so generous in opening three bottles of wine over dinner (a different bottle per course) and what was supposed to be a 2.5 hour cooking lesson ended up being a full night of great food and conversations! Thank you Fiora and family for being such wonderful hosts and for sharing the rich history and culture of Florence city and its amazing foods. We enjoyed every part of that evening. I would give Fiora more than 5 stars if I could!!
We had Flora from Florence as our chef! We really enjoyed going to the market with Flora, we learned so much about the local foods! Highly recommend adding that to your event! Flora was the best host, would 100% do this again! This was our first time and will not be the last! Flora made us feel part of her family! We truly made a friend in her! Take her class you will be very, very satisfied!
