My biggest passion, along with my family, is cooking: I have always worked, but I never stopped to cook, also for my friends. My grandmother was the cook of one of the most important aristocratic families of Florence: thanks to her I kept on cooking according to tradition, using only seasonal and quality products to prepare her fantastic recipes. I still follow her advice, although over the years I have altered some components of these recipes, trying to give to my dishes a contemporary style, changing the presentation, but with respect for tradition.
We can always cook keeping an eye on fats, but we cannot change the original ingredients of typical regional dishes. During the summer I welcome my guests in the garden, that is small but very nice, and during the winter we eat inside, between the living room and a “shabby chic”- style kitchen. I love to introduce my foreign friends to the Italian cuisine, that for us is a real way of life.
This was an unbelievable experience
Monica and her husband were so welcoming and friendly
Their home is beautiful, I had kitchen envy!!
We got to cook a few dishes with her, all which were manageable for two non-cooks
We got to meet her 4 children who spoke good English too, they joined us when we got to eat all of the food we had prepared and cooked.
Such an enjoyable time, one I will never forget
100% recommend Monica and Ristomama 🙂
What an incredible night with Monica and Roberto in their beautiful home in Florence. Monica was a gracious and patient teacher as we prepared gnocchi with flour, salt, fresh spinach from Tuscany and ricotta. Pork loin with ground mustard and purée mushrooms wrapped in a smoked ham. This was then paced on a Italian bread. We made mascarpone with egg yolk and sugar pudding. Pasta, ground meat and Béchamel cheese. Wine and grappa was flowing and with their friends Alexandria and her husband Sandria (sp) we now have new friends. I will post her menu if you ever want to visit our friends.
